The Austrian Federation of Jewish War Veterans (BJF) was formed in 1932 to combat rising anti-Semitism, commemorate Jewish military service during World War I, and foster Jewish identity. This was done through various means including military-style organization, the journal "Jewish Front", and erecting war memorials. The BJF aimed to create a unified Austrian Jewish identity, defending the honor and rights of Jewish individuals who had served in the military during a time of increasing societal and political prejudice. This badge from the BJF signifies the valor, service, and communal identity upheld by this organization during a tumultuous period in history.
