DESCRIPTION

Delightful carved figure in the form of a horse and rider.  Possibly a priest, priestess or royalty figure.  Back shows evidence of vertical straight saw marks.  Most likely used for molding springerle, a German cookie known for their intricate designs and anise flavoring.

CONDITION

Overall excellent.  No age cracks or checks.  Rich dark patina.  A FINE AND EARLY WOODEN FOOD MOLD.
