Listed here is this classic 1970s rattan and wicker "Emmanuelle" Peacock Chair. It was produced by the French company Kok Maison, c.1970-1979. This iconic chair's popularity skyrocketed in 1974, after actress Sylvia Kristel was featured in the chair in the French film, Emmanuelle. These glamorous chairs were a fad for celebrities and a symbol of pop culture. Many celebrities have been photographed in this chair: Elizabeth Taylor, Cher, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, Charlie Chapman, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and Stevie Nicks, to name a few. The chair features expertly woven wicker and cane with a large-scale fan back, portraying a peacock’s splayed tail. These exceptional handwoven sturdy chairs were designed at the height of the Hollywood Regency movement and evoke a spirit of glamour. It's a perfect addition to that luxe room! Very nice!
