Antique lacquered Wooden Kogai Kanzashi Hair Ornament
This item came from the Gion Kobu Geisha District of Kyoto. It is made of tsuge boxwood, lacquered in a deep brown (looks almost black) and inset with mother or pearl in a chrysanthemum design. It is probably about 60-70 years old. A tiny piece of the mother of pearl artwork seems to be missing from each end but it is otherwise in excellent condition - see photos. We have priced in according to its quality and condition. It measures about: 16cm (6½") in length and comes apart at the center.
Weight: 8g
