A wonderful piece of Annette Nancarrow Mexican jewelry.

Nancarrow was an American artist and jewelry maker and friend of Frida Kahlo. She had collegial friendships with the Mexican muralists Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and Jose Clemente Orozco and worked as an apprentice to Rivera on his 'Four Horseman of the Apocalypse' mural. She lived and worked in Mexico through the middle of the 20th century.

Her work often incorporated Pre-columbian pottery elements (as this pin does). She had a keen sense of mounting, and the mount on this piece feels integral to the relic.

The back has a bail and the brooch doubles nicely as a pendant for a necklace.

Simply an amazing piece!
