Technical Description 

A superb cut glass serving dish, probably Waterford, dating to c1830. Circular in form, it has a with a fan and crosscut diamond rim with polished slice cuts to the underside. Sits on a radial cut base. An exceptional example.

Date & Origin 

Ireland or England, c1830. Period of George IV.

Condition

Very good, a few small nibbles to the fans on the rim, very minor and as expected. No chips, no cracks or restoration.

Historical Context

Hand-blown around the time Austins of Derry was established in Northern Ireland. At its closure in 2016, it remained the world's oldest independent department store.
