ROYAL DOULTON DICKENS MINIATURE - 'FAT BOY'

1st. VERSION M44.

DATE: 1932-1983.

This is a Miniature figurine of FAT BOY made of bone china by Royal Doulton between 1932 and 1983. This is the 1st Version numbering M44.   He stands on a square shaped base with his hands in pockets. In excellent condition and well marked with the green Royal Doulton mark to the underside.

These miniature figurines were produced without numbers to the underside. There appears to be some confusion as to whether the number is M44 or M55 and this is not cleared up in the 1983 Edition of Royal Doulton Figures by Desmond Eyles and Richard Dennis.

The Fat Boy  was a character called 'JOE' in The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens. A friendly character known for his love of food.
