A Flower Vase Or Decorative Jug.
Green glazed, ribbed earthenware pottery.
A smooth rimmed footed jug in tapering form with a chunky handle.
Decorated in this lovely bright floral pattern with primulas, buds & leaves.
Enhanced by black tube lining & filled with yellow, orange & green enamels.
Finished by a black hand stitching effect to the rim and handle top.
Designed by Charlotte Rhead and manufactured in Staffordshire,
using this early 1930's Crown Ducal trademark.
Height 6.5" / 16 cm.
Top diameter 4.5" / 11 cm.
Base diameter 3.75" / 8.5 cm.
With a clear black Crown Ducal back stamp as shown.
Signed by C Rhead.
Incised shape number 190 to the base & also in black.
No pattern number.
Dates to c 1932 - 1934.
This beautiful rare item of early decorative table ware comes in very good, original condition & appears unused.
With no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration, the pattern and glaze is still original being very clear & bright.
A pretty example of early popular display ware which would be a lovely addition
to your collection or perfect for an Art Deco / Vintage pottery present !
