Offered here for your consideration is a rare, English Bilston or Battersea enamel green tea caddy. Likely manufactured in South Staffordshire. 

Of octagonal form with a white enamel on copper. Decorated with floral bouquets and sprays, bows, and purple swags. The top with green in capital letters.

It dates to the mid to late 18th century.

It is in overall fair, as-pictured used estate condition with some expected minor losses to the enamel (principally at the edges and on a noticeable spot on the base), hairlines throughout body and lid, some chipping to a cracked area on lid, edge wear, fine and light surface scratches throughout, and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.

Base bears an old label for Jas. A. Lewis & Son, 57th St NYC.
