This listing is for Kumela's Kaarna vase, designed by Pentti Sarpaneva and manufactured in the 1960s. Rising from a bronze hoop, the vase impresses with its beautiful organic essence, from which translucent shades vary from pale to smoky brown. The details of the engraved bronze hoop and the tactile texture of the glass emphasize the naturalistic feel of the vase. The influences drawn from the barren nature of the North take their final shape in a stunning art glass object, which is both dramatic and delicate in its expression. The vase, made of moulded blow glass, is a gorgeous decorative specimen, but it also provides an attractive setting for cut flowers, decorative branches, or evergreen foliage. It measures about 8.5” high x 4.5” diameter and is gently used with no discernible damage. Signed on the base.
