RARE Original 1895 Leather Memorial Record of the Northern Peninsula of Michigan. Large leather bound book, approx. 11"x9"x3", weighs over 6 lbs. Fancy textured leather cover with gilded lettering, page gilt edge on 3 sides, fancy navy & gold printed end papers (slight damage to front flyleaf from a price tag). Gold stamped design bordering the endpapers. Cover has some wear and dings to edges. Binding is tight and book is straight, no odors. Some foxing throughout. Some of the prominent men are illustrated with etchings or photographs and their signatures are printed below the portrait. Some of the signatures appear to be actual signatures, the ink can be felt on the page (see the photo of the etching of Bishop John Vertin.) One woman is described but no portrait of Nancy Rodger, M.D. The etchings are marked Magazine of Western History.
