Sweet and charming antique two-tone 9ct gold, elliptical openwork
brooch with floral detail. Dating to around the 1890’s, it’s just beginning to
show signs of the emerging Art Nouveau period, leaving behind the heavy nature
of more traditional Victorian jewellery and moving towards lighter, simpler
pieces. The main frame of the brooch is in rose gold, with details such as the
delicate flowers and leaves highlighted by being modelled in yellow gold. The reverse
is stamped 9ct gold and fastens with a straight, steel fastening pin held by a
tube hinge and held by the traditional C-shaped clasp. Approximate measurements - 3.9 cm x 1.3cm, total
Weight - 1.97g.
This elegant brooch has a timeless theme of flowers, making it a
great gift for special occasions or a lovely addition to any jewellery
collection.
