Scarce and highly collectible original first printing concert handbill advertising American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist and composer Sidney Bechet (1897–1959) at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday, 16th September, 1956, accompanied by French clarinetist Andre Reweliotty, and with Chris Barber's Jazz Band also on the bill. Acknowledged as one of the first important soloists in jazz and perhaps the first notable jazz saxophonist, Bechet died in Paris from lung cancer on 14th May 1959, on his 62nd birthday.

The handbill measures 17.0 x 12.3 cm and is beautifully printed in black ink on thin, yellow smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition.
