ZTSE4439 Pitman Arm Removal Tool

APPLICATION:

Fits for International trucks with Sheppard M-series steering gears (snap ring cover, clip-style cover and bolt-on cover). Works with all model 292, 392, and 492 steering gears with a one-piece Pitman Arm retainer

STEP1

Park the vehicle, set the parking brake and raise the hood or cab.

STEP2

Use the punch to bend the restraining tabs out of the pitman arm retainer.

(NOTE: Do not bend the aligning tabs out of the pitman arm.)

STEP3

Lubricate the face of the retainer with clean chassis lube.

(NOTE: Failure to lubricate the face of the retainer will cause difficulty in pitman arm.)

STEP4

Slide the pitman arm puller over the pitman arm as shown.

Take care to align the hole in the puller with the Allen socket in the retainer.

Insert the Allen drive socket through the puller and into the retainer socket.

Use an impact wrench to back off the retainer. The retainer will act as a jack screw to remove the pitman arm.
