This is a large late 17th century of oil on canvas by Carlo Maratta depicting Cardinal Adriano Cybo-Malaspina. The work is on its original canvas and is likely a fragment of a larger work as there is a Latin inscription at the bottom which is only half visible. This is a real 17th century oil on canvas (not a fake as many painting on sale on the internet). This masterpiece of work of Carlo Maratta is preserving all signs of aging such as old nails, original wooden stretcher and canvas.
