1979 Gibson Les Paul K.M. Kalamazoo, Made in Cherry Sunburst. This was a limited issue custom model and some of the these had a "Custom Made" plaque mounted below the tailpiece by the factory.  The Les Paul K.M. was  intended to be a sunburst Les Paul that more closely approximated ’59 Standard specs and was the first ever "Custom Shop" like re-Issue type of guitar to be released.  This was one of the last Les Pauls ever produced in the Kalamazoo, Michigan factory, on the old machines, by the original craftsmen.
The guitar has 2 exposed-coil, double-cream, hum-buckers, speed-style knobs, large, black side dot markers, a Nashville bridge, stop tailpiece, Grover tuners, wide binding in the cutaway, brown backplates, and “Les Paul K. M.” engraved on the truss rod cover. The first run had a “Custom Made” plaque either loose in the case or mounted below the tailpiece, like this example. The guitar was available in Antique Sunburst, Natural, or Cherry Sunburst finish.

An estimated total of approximately 1,500 Les Paul KMs were made.. This guitar has been used well and has ounces of play wear and patina on the back and some marks on the front. Tuning pegs have been replaced, tightened although not screwed in. Heavy guitar coming in at just under 5kgs. Guitar comes with case.
