The artist is greatly influenced by Monet and Van Gogh.

A self-taught painter, sculptor and printmaker, Guy Begin was born in, and still has a home base in, Levis, Quebec. His mediums are oils, acrylics, serigraphs, painted metal sculptures and art prints. His subjects include figures, flowers, landscapes, garden scenes, still life, street scenes and genre. His style is frequently described as Impressionism; however, Fauvism and Modernism would also apply to many of his works. The Musee Pierre-Boucher in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec has several of his prints in their collection.


He has travelled and painted in many countries of Europe, particularly in France and Italy (1985) and he has travelled widely in the U.S.A. He lived and worked in San Diego, California in 1987 and 1988. He has also visited and travelled throughout Japan on at least nine occasions (1992, 1993, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007).


Begin’s works have been exhibited in Canada and the U.S.A. at galleries such as Galerie Symbole Art, Montreal; Galerie Concorde, Montreal; Galerie Louise Carrier, Levis, Quebec; James Hunt Barker Gallery, Nantucket, Massachusetts; Maser Galleries, Pittsburgh; Richard Danskin Gallery, Palm Beach, Florida; and, Apropos Art Gallery, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
