Gibson HERITAGE CUSTOM

Description

This is a rare Gibson model with rosewood sides and back, and it features a hard, crisp tone with a solid bass core.
If anything, it's not a popular model and I don't think it's very well known, but it's a pretty good-sounding instrument.
Production began in 1965, and at first it was made of veneer with Jacaranda side and back, but halfway through it was made of rosewood, and in 1968 it was changed to Jacaranda laminate.
In 1970, the design was made of rosewood veneer, and the bracing was changed to double X, and it was produced until 1982.
It has never been reproduced since then, and is a rare model known only to those in the know.
Top is spruce, sides and back are rosewood, ebony fingerboard, and ebony bridge.
The pegs are original with the GIBSON stamp made by Schaller and operate smoothly.
The original frets have been rubbed together, the neck angle corrected, and the saddle replaced, making it easy to play.
The pickguard has some re-gluing marks on the bottom, but is original.
There is a crack repair on both sides of the soundhole fingerboard, and a crack repair below the first string on the side of the pickguard. There are also adhesive rope marks on the top center seam.
There is a strap pin on the neck heel.
It is burnt and discolored to a brownish color. The painted surface is quite clean, but there are some traces of hair left on the inside of the case.
It has a well-seasoned, yet crisp box sound, as if it were an instrument that has been played through many repairs.
It is a regular grip neck with a nut width of about 42.6 mm.
The adjustment rod works well and has plenty of room.
Above the 12th fret, the 6th string is about 2.5mm and the 1st string is about 1.5mm.
It is easy to play, has good balance, and has a firm sense of tension.
It sounds with an edgy core tone typical of double X bracing.
I think you can feel the crispness and the weight of the bass.
I think the characteristic of this instrument is that it has a rough feel typical of Gibson's 70's vintage, but has a strong bass tone.
It is a versatile instrument that can be used for strokes with a flat pick, solo play up to high positions, and finger picking.
Comes with original hard case.
