An original WW2 "URGENT MESSAGE" produced to be AIR DROPPED on D-DAY to FRENCH CIVILIANS by Allied aircraft as the BATTLE of NORMANDY began.

Its purpose was to give them half an hour's notice to take to the fields, avoid clogging the roads, and to stay away from key infrastructure, communications installations, or anything else representing a 'high value target' for Allied aerial bombardment.

It was vital for D-Day's success that German reinforcements were unable to be transported rapidly, so a huge bombing campaign was launched in order to destroy important road, rail and communications networks further inland.

It's in tatty condition (see photos) with some slight loss to content.

Measures approximately 20cm x 13cm.

Please see my other WW2 (and WW1) air drop and propaganda leaflets, documents, maps, manuals, photos etc.
