PAIR of GEORGIAN OLD SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATED WINE

 BOTTLE / CHAMPAGNE COASTERS. 

MANUFACTURER: ROBERT GAINSFORD of Sheffield

DATE: c. 1825.

This is a matching large pair of Old Sheffield Silver plate on Copper coasters or wine slides. Suitable for wine or larger sized magnums and champagne bottles. Ornate rims with hardwood bases and central plated buttons marked with the initials 'RG' for Robert Gainsford. Made in George IV era c.1825. In excellent condition.

Marks: The central silver plated button on both coasters is stamped ' R D ' for Robert Gainsford of Eyre Street, Sheffield.

Condition: Excellent. Signs of the underlying copper are visible only on the external edges of the rims. Age & use wear to the hardwood bases. No other damage and no repairs or restoration.
