This is a 1958 Fender 5E3 deluxe guitar amplifier. This one is very near 100% original. It has had one 6v6 power tube replaced...THATS IT!!! (the original bad tube included) Not only was the sound of rock and roll created on these  Fender tweed amps, many studios used Fender  tweeds, including the important ones. Chess studios in particular favored this amp, the 5e3...it "suited" thier mics....so many of the best classic rock and blues recordings were done using this  make/model/vintage. It is a great all around and versatile amplifier. It has a single twelve inch speaker, With 2 channels powered by two 6V6 power tubes. It is great in the studio. You can really hit the sweet spots, and make it sing at a small club gig, and even  mic it for the big stage. There are several things special about this particular example. The "minimites" are still intact and working perfectly.  There are not even many bulges, let alone blowouts or puking from these caps. These are not aftermarket replacements with the original sleeves.... These are original, never touched! It's because this amp was used as a store demo.... At a small mom and pop music store in Wray Co. , If you were looking at buying an electric guitar.... You plugged into this amplifier to test it out. It probably helped sell a lot of guitars. But for those who do not know.... The amp being used every day is what makes it survive in such great condition. The caps dry up when they are not used.... In fact, I have gigged and recorded extensively with it for ten years since I have owned it..... Some changes I made when I first got it;
1. Even though I mostly only play harp through it... I took out the original speaker, which has never been reconed and sounds fantastic. I put in a replacement, the original speaker has been in a box preserved with the original speaker wire/plug soldered on in 1958. It does have one tiny tear in the original paper cone.... But it is small and does not seem to affect the tone. And i'm sure it could be glued or repaired in some way without replacing that original paper. I am still gigging the amp, but will put the original speaker back in when sold.
2. I took off the original leather handle and put on a reproduction  not to wear out the original.... original is pictured, and will be included.
3. I added a stranded copper ground wire to the original 2 prong cord. For obvious safety  reasons. It works great and could easily be undone if you are more of a collector. I used an existing hole in the chassis to attach it. So, no alterations...just added safety.
4. When I first got it, a friend/expert tech, tested the tubes and told me one of the power tubes tested weak.... And replaced it with a new old stock tube of the same value. Yes, even most of the tubes are original!!!!

 This 5E3 Has never been stored in a musty basement, or a hot and dusty attic... It has been living in a smoke-free home, and has been gigged post smoking ban in bars! The bottom of the cabinet on the inside has some scuffs from me, putting harmonica, microphones and harps back there. The bottom of the cabinet outside has some discoloration to the tweed. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I am also open to third party verification/authentication.... If you would like to send an expert to inspect it before purchase, I will do anything I can do to accommodate and facilitate. So please don't hesitate to ask. I can not offer any warranty or guarantee on 66 year-old electronic equipment. But having said that, I can not over emphasize how unbelievably dependable and trouble-free this unit is and has been. I have  recorded with and played hundreds of gigs with this amplifier. I have had absolutely no problems.... Zero!!! I am open for offers on this amp... But, in my opinion, the price is commensurate with the desirability, rarity, and  exceptional original condition of this amp. This one is a true time capsule. I have owned and operated a number of Fender tweeds over the years...and can say from  personal experience....there is a discernible "tonal purity" to the rare examples of untouched originals. The tone is truly amazing. It is dead quiet turned on with all pots, both volumes and tone turned to 12. And when you plug into it...it's magic. I have been on ebay for twenty years. I have not sold a huge number of items, but I have never had an unhappy buyer. You will not be disappointed...they just don't get much better than this. I would prefer not to ship this piece of a music history... local pick up is great.... I'm in Columbus, Ohio, so I am close to everywhere.( relatively speaking) You can see/hear/play before you pay. I will work with buyer anyway possible to make a smooth, ez transaction. If it needs to be shipped, I will package it so it could be dropped from a 5 story building without damage.Thanks for looking.
