Manufacture Fabrique d'Horlogerie Elida was founded by J. Kobel in Fleurier. In 1916, the company was renamed Elida Watch Co. Kobel & Bilat, with Bilat as a new business partner. The company was located at 8 rue Pasquier. This company later became the Nouvelle Fabrique d'Horlogerie de la Montre Elida S.A. (New Elida watch Manufacturing Co. Ltd.). The managing director was Ernest Klemmer, who died in 1934.

In 1929, Elida Watch Co. was represented at the World's Fair in Barcelona. The company had a production facility in Lyss and Sonvilier, and in 1966 the company was listed in Neuchâtel with "Life Watch", together with the company Delle Suzanne Irene Grandjean in Peseux. The Elida brand was listed in 1973 as a trademark of Kalela S.A. in Biel.
