Petrified wood are very well preserved silicified wood from the Cerro cuadrado, in Santa Cruz Province, (Patagonia region) Argentina.

The site was buried by a volcanic eruption during the Middle Jurassic, approximately 160 millon years ago.

The specimen shows the bark, fibrous tissues and cell structure practically intact due to a very slow and stabled silicified  process.

One end is mirror polishing.
