[100% untouched. Estate fresh & absolutely new to the marketplace. No touch-ups or mitigation of the painted areas, where there are some small, barely visible scuffs &/or shallow abrasions, has been performed. The painted plaster sculpture remains exactly how it was found when it was removed from the home it was discovered in. Absolutely fantastic. Recently discovered in south-central New Hampshire
in a well-appointed estate in the Peterborough, NH area, this simply incredible, massive & deceivingly heavy, semi-transparent glazed, plaster abstract figurative bust of a Roman mythological horned faun or Greek mythological satyr, stands on a slab constructed base some 14" in height & spans across 8 1/2" in width. The figure, half-human & half goat, has a rack of golden horns atop its head. Cubist abstract influences are present in how the face is cut up & divided. This work is in the manner of the legendary French Modernist ceramic artist Roger Capron (1922-2006.) This piece is unsigned & a once affixed label on the bottom of the sculpture's baseplate, has since fallen off. There's no inscription or artist's signature appearing elsewhere on the piece. An absolutely mesmerizing, enigmatic, transfixing work. Killer.]
