This is a semi-key date Barber Dime, an 1896-S (575,056
minted) certified and graded by PCGS as XF40.
The coin has natural light gray patina with a littler darker gray
coloration around the rim edges. There
is a little hair detail on the obverse and a little natural mint luster peeking
through on the reverse. I don’t
understand why most retail price guides have this date priced significantly
lower than the 96-O in higher circulated grades when the graded populations are
similarly low. This is an exceptional
and rare coin and should be priced accordingly.
