This ultrasonic anemometer is a great addition to any weather station setup. It measures wind speed and direction using its ultrasonic measuring technology with 5 measurements per second.
The anemometer is compatible with arduino connections; making it perfect for DIY projects. It comes with a power bank and solar charger ready to work; it has a sturdy construction; made of aluminum and stainless steel. The anemometer is small with dimensions of 3.7" x 4.3" and a weight of 8 oz .
Connection :
The anemometer output it is virtually the same as a cup anemometer with wind vane for wind direction.
For Arduino or any other micro controller tow inputs needed, one analog for wind direction and one digital for wind speed. Please see the photos for the wire diagram.
The wind direction output voltage it is proportional to the direction of the wind (pot position).
Wind speed can be measured by reading the frequency of the pulses (1hz = 1m/s).
