Hutschenreuther Demitasse Cup & Saucer Pink Floral Garlands w/Gold 1946-1948
DESCRIPTION: This superb quality china has colors that are bright & contrasting. This is hand decorated on a blank of fine white china which has embossing next to the rims & foot of the demitasse cup. The cup's handles have gold trim and the rims have gold paint on them. The cup is smooth rimmed while the saucer is scalloped on the rim. The saucer's mold is the Racine mold that Hutschenreuther bought from Haviland as the Ranson mold blank #1.
CONDITION: While this cup and saucer set is classified as used, the condition is superb. We find no nicks, chips, scratches, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the colors and no crazing. Look in the photos to see this. The lack of utensil scratches on the set attests to the high quality of the porcelain china. This decorative set is beautiful.
DIMENSIONS: The cup has a diameter of 2 3/8" with a height of 2 3/8". The capacity of the cup is 3 ounces. The deep saucer has a diameter of 4 3/8" and a height of 3/4".
HISTORY/MARKS: The Hutschenreuther porcelain story began when Karl Magnus Hutschenreuther, 1793-1845, discovered kaolin in northeastern Bavaria in 1814 where he established his company. His son Lorenz managed the Hohenberg porcelain factory from 1845-1857. He founded his own Hutschenreuther Porcelain Company in Selb in 1856 which became highly successful and 113 years later absorbed his father’s company. All of the Hutschenreuther Companies were trend setters of high quality porcelain. Hutschenreuther became known for the love of detail, distinctive brilliance of color, and lustrous beauty shown through the decorating of the fine porcelain pieces. The mark on this set is that of the Hutschenreuther Company of Selb, Bavaria Germany. The Hutschenreuther (C.M. Hutschenreuther Selb, Bavaria) mark was used 1946-1948.
