An original WW1 British Army map of the SOMME BATTLEFIELD featuring a number of its most famous landmarks, such as MONTAUBAN, DELVILLE WOOD, LONGUEVAL, HIGH WOOD, TRONES WOOD, COMBLES, MARTINPUICH, GUILLEMONT, FLERS, MAMETZ WOOD, LE SARS, LEUZE WOOD etc.

Also covered to the East is an area that includes villages on the Hindenburg Line such as QUEANT, PRONVILLE and MOEUVRES, along with BOURLON WOOD which lay strategically between two roads converging on CAMBRAI (see the top right corner which shows both roads labelled in the margin).

Produced in August 1918 during the decisive 100 Days Campaign.
