"The Hagerstown Cracker Barrel"  published September 1973. Feature article on a Maryland Volunteer's Civil War Diary. Also an article on the Washington County graduating class of 1913. Much more in this great magazine. A great gift for someone who was born, graduated or got married in 1973.  Lots of historic photos in this 22 page magazine.  This magazine once belonged to John Bast of Boonesboro. He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. John was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a third generation funeral director and took over the Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro from his father and uncle in 1964. John was a devoted member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boonsboro and a former member of the church council. He was a member of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association; the National Funeral Directors Association; and locally the B.P.O. Elks 378 in Hagerstown and was a supporter and former board member of Boonsboro Cemetery. As a youth he performed with the Boonsboro Band, Hagerstown Municipal Band and various dance bands. He was a former director of the Boonsboro Bank, member of the advisory board of Hagerstown Trust Company and longtime member of Clopper-Michael Post 10 American Legion in Boonsboro.
