The Famous Amelio’s

Renowned Cuisine

1630 Powell Street, San Francisco

It’s a beautiful menu.

The calligraphy is just beautiful and the prices are amazing.

Lamb Rothchild with mushrooms for $7.00, abalone with sauce meuner for $6.00, veal alla Henry for $5.00

Here is a little history on Amelio’s, A famous North Beach restaurant that opened in 1926.

This is a landmark location that housed one of San Francisco’s most important speakeasies in 1918 and became one of the most famous spaces in the city.

Peña Pachamama was formerly Amelio’s, where Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe had their wedding dinner.

The Kennedys were frequent guests.

In the upstairs dining room Clark Gable and Carole Lombard rendezvoused.

The menu opens up very wide measuring 18“ x 13 1/2“

The menu itself isn’t a good condition the paper is it specially type parchment paper

From what I could research it is sadly long gone.

It’s just beautiful... this would also be wonderful on your wall in your kitchen or a game room.

And intriguing dining adventure serving gourmet dishes ...

A rare menu and a must for your collection or as a fun special unique gift.

Maybe you shared a special time with someone there.

Please look carefully at the photos, as they show condition in detail.

Please email questions before bidding.

I will be selling a collection of very well cared for menus by a sweet couple back in the 50s 60s 70s and 80s. I’m amazed by the amount of inflation that has taken place!

It was a romantic thing for them to do and they always asked permission and were given each Menu.

Also, here is what a fellow admirer of the menu found out about it! I hadn’t noticed these details, but they did! Quite interesting, which also adds to its charm!

Hey, I've been following this a long time because it's so pretty to look at, but I thought I should let you know that it's covered in spelling errors.

Just a few examples: "vinaigrette""Rothschild" and "vitello", and even main words like "Hors d-oeuvres" and "Buon Appetito"! I don't know what that means in terms of its history or value, but I used to do calligraphy and know it's really easy to leave letters out or spell things incorrectly when you're hyperfocused and trying to get the letters even and looking nice. Anyway, my interest in it was for that novelty of it - I kind of sympathize that someone worked so hard and made so many mistakes but kept at it! But it could be that's part of why it's not selling at this price, so I thought I'd let you know. Could be that if you address that in the description, like it's part of its charm, that might help sell it :-)
