Antique unique hand-carved letter opener made from animal bone (possibly deer antler) created by an ancestor who passed in 1948.

My Great-Great Uncle Willie, the carver, was from the Adirondacks in New York State and was 89 years old when he died.  He lived near Owl's Head Mountain outside of Malone, New York.  As a young man, he used to carve items for his family members as gifts.  This opener was one such gift.  None of the younger folks in my family have any interest in owning it.

The opener is about 4 3/4 inches long.
