First ever "Shield" Sovereign in fine condition (but check out all photos to judge condition for yourself)

It is a bit underweight due to the coin's wear, not the best example but definitely a lot of history closed into this piece of gold

In-demand George IV re-design

The second Sovereign struck by The Royal Mint during the reign of George IV who was on the throne from 1820 until his death in 1830. Following an argument, Benedetto Pistrucci’s portrayal of St George slaying the dragon, which had dominated the Sovereign since 1817, was dropped and the first ever ‘Shield’ design by Johann Baptiste Merlen appeared on the reverse between 1825 and 1830 – this design was to dominate the British classic for the next 40 years.
