Model overview
The M-36 was introduced in 1978 and continues to receive praise for its distinctive style.
The most distinctive feature of this model is that it has a slightly wider body than the 000 and OM. Although the width of the body is wider, the thickness is the same as the 000, and the body has a firm constriction, so you can get a powerful body sound while maintaining ease of holding.
The body material is a combination of Martin's classic spruce top and rosewood side and back materials, and the back material is a three-piece structure like the D-35. The bracing is forward shift X bracing that crosses at a position 25.4mm from the edge of the sound hole, and is also scalloped to create a rich bass range and volume.
The slightly thinner neck shape, called Modified Low Oval, has a moderately tapered nut width of 44.5mm, and has excellent playability. There is little difference in thickness and width between the low and high positions, so it has an almighty playing feel regardless of the position.
This model is recommended for those who are looking for a wide dreadnought-like sound with the same playing feel as the 000 and OM.
