In solid condition with some signs of age which you might expect of an item of this type and history and can be used on a practical level. It will need relining to your own preference. There is a key and lock but I will point out that the lock will need to be dissasembled to remove part of the tang that has broken off on the lid section. The lock can be removed and undone and although you might be able to use the orginal tang, you might want to replace that. I dont have time to do this all at the moment, hence the box is priced for someone else to take on the project and they will have a lovely box.
