Fine French Boulle Clock, Circa 1860

A fine example of a French 19th century Boulle inlaid mantel clock dating to circa 1860.

 A beautiful antique French Napoleon III Boulle mantel clock dating to circa 1850. The clock comprises of an ebonised wooden frame inlaid with shell and ormolu. Demonstrating the finest quality of craftsmanship, the white enamel dial is decorated with black hand painted Arabic numerals with outer chapter indicating minute marks. The clock face is protected by a thick glass door encased within an ormolu rim. The whole raised on four ormolu scrolled feet, decorated with ormolu mounts throughout and surmounted by a floral finial.


The single train mechanical movement is protected by its original ormolu door. The clock comes complete with its winding key and pendulum. The mechanism is stamped by Lenzkirch,  one of the most renowned clock manufacturers of the 19th century.

Condition:

Overall, the clock is in good condition. The clock has a clean movement and has recently been serviced. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a good colour and the inlay is all in tact.

Please note, whilst the clock currently works, during transport, all clocks are moved around a lot, and therefore, they may require setting up upon receiving them as well as the possibility of requiring professional assistance or a service as they can get 'stuck'. There is no guarantee that the clock will work smoothly after it has been transported.
