Antique French Empire Ormolu Mantel Clock, circa 1810

A very fine example of a French Empire fire gilded ormolu clock depicting a lady seated next to her dog. The figure is elegantly seated on the clocks drum case with both hand lovingly wrapped around her dog whilst looking into the distance.The figure of the lady has been finely chiselled; she has very realistic features; pay particular attention to the face, hands and finger nails.

The clock demonstrates the finest quality of craftsmanship. To the front elevation, the clock features a white enamel dial with Roman numerals. This fine clock stands upon a rectangular base with bracket fee and swept plinth. The front elevation of the base features repoussé work with shells and scroll work. The white enamel dial with black hand painted Roman numerals and outer chapter indicating minute marks all surrounded within an ormolu rim.

 The clock features a twin train silk suspended mechanical movement striking the hours and half on a bell. The clock is regulated by a count wheel.

The bell, pendulum and winding key are present.

Condition: Overall, the clock is in good working condition. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a very good colour.

Please note, whilst the clock currently works, during transport, all clocks are moved around a lot, and therefore, they may require setting up upon receiving them as well as the possibility of requiring professional assistance or a service as they can get 'stuck'. There is no guarantee that the clock will work smoothly after it has been transported.
