A fine example of a French marble, ormolu and bronze mantel clock dating to the 19th century, circa 1860. The clock forms part of the collection that was housed in Meldon Park Country Estate (please see picture 2 whereby the clock was in the drawing room at Meldon Park).

 A beautiful antique French Napoleon III mantel clock dating to circa 1870. The clock comprises of a marble base dressed with a chiselled ormolu plinth issuing four classical Carrara marble columns with engine turned collars. The four columns support an arched canopy surmounted by a large floral bouquet in an urn alongside a finely chiselled bronze and ormolu figure of a goddess with a draped floral garland. The whole raised on scrolled feet and decorated with ormolu mounts.

The clock case with two thick side bevelled glass panels and two arched handled doors. The case houses a very finely engine turned ormolu dial with hand painted Roman numerals, moon phase hands and the makers mark 'Rennison Paris'. The dial can be accessed via an ormolu encased bevelled glass door.

The original twin train movement is present, striking the hours and half hours on a gong. The pendulum and winding key are present. The mechanism can be accessed via an ormolu encased bevelled glass door. The clock is in excellent and original condition retaining its original starburst pendulum which has the same serial number as the mechanism; a true testament to its originality.

The clock is of very large and heavy proportions.

Condition:

Overall, the clock is in good condition. The clock has a clean movement and has recently been serviced. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a good colour and the inlay is all in tact.

Please note, whilst the clock currently works, during transport, all clocks are moved around a lot, and therefore, they may require setting up upon receiving them as well as the possibility of requiring professional assistance or a service as they can get 'stuck'. There is no guarantee that the clock will work smoothly after it has been transported.
