Welcome To The Antique Cabinet

For your consideration is a beautiful & very rare ETLING Frosted Art Glass Semi-Nude Statue, model #89, circa 1930’s.

Much of our research & info is obtained from the online “Etling Project” site which is a wonderful and highly recommended site to visit!

Edmond Laurent Etling founded his business around 1909, his shop was located at 29 Rue de Paradis in Paris France.  With obvious great vision and instinct for desired style, his retail business became very admired and respected for its innovated and high-quality designs which were produced in an array of mediums.  Along with having his own team of glass-workers which were based at the Cristalleries et Verreries de Choisy-le-Roi Réunies (in the outskirts of Paris), he also commissioned designs from some of the top freelance designers & artist of the period.

Edmond Etling was without doubt one of the key players in the Art Deco movement. On an interesting yet very sad note, being Jewish resulted with Etling, his entire family and his glass workers all being rounded-up and sent to Nazi concentration camps where they met their deaths during WWII.

Frosted glass with sepia highlights, this elegant piece depicts a graceful cabaret dancer. She is topless in a kneeling pose with her head resting on shoulder and arms outstretched to sides holding a floral veil. She has nice detailing and is even more alluring when displayed in front of or on top of a light source.

The piece is properly signed on the outside of glass base with the molded marks “ETLING FRANCE 89” and measures approx. ” tall by 11½” at widest.

She is in excellent antique condition, free of any chips, cracks or repairs with lite age-related wear and a couple typical manufacturing related internal bubbles, lines, etc in the glass.

A very rare & unique example of ETLING Glass!
