Glencoe 1 Tent with Superlite Titanium Classic Shepherd's Crook Tent Pegs

Our Glencoe 1 is a one person, 3/4 season, lightweight, high quality backpacking tent. This really is a very nice, well-featured, dome style, one person tent with a small pack size and a total weight of under 2kgs. The Glencoe 1 is our slightly modified version of GeerTop's TOPWIND 1. 

Apart from the obvious Drab Olive Green polyester flysheet, our Glencoe 1 also features slightly stronger 8.5mm 7001-T6 ProFlex anodised tent poles (as opposed to the 8mm poles of the TOPWIND 1). The inner tent is a light grey as opposed to the TOPWIND 1's yellow inner tent, and this Glencoe 1 comes with 8 x 155mm 5g Superlite titanium tent pegs.

The Drab Olive Green polyester flysheet is marginally heavier than the TOPWIND 1's nylon flysheet, but not only does the Drab Olive Green allow for stealth and discreet camping, but polyester in itself is less prone than nylon to sag when wet, so the tent better holds its shape in inclement weather.
 
Low weight, high quality materials and high quality workmanship provide an exceptional value for money, lightweight tent, that can compete favourably with very expensive big brand name tents in a similar category. Please do not mistake this little tent for a cheap throwaway festival tent or the very inferior quality tents often available from superstores and the like, there really is no comparison. Indeed if you are looking to compare this tent with other tents (and, I know I would), then compare it to the big brand name, very expensive tents and you will find the specifications of this tent are right up there with them... but the price is not!

The real beauty of our Glencoe 1 is actually its simplicity. There is nothing complicated, nothing counter-intuitive, nothing you have to think about. The tent erects very fast and very straight forward in just a few short minutes.
 
The Glencoe 1 features a full polyester breathable fabric inner tent with just a small mesh panelling at the apex, so unlike lighter tents that feature an all bug-mesh inner tent, this makes for a nice warm tent when used in colder conditions. There are two large entrances, one on either side of the tent, with the inner tent featuring double doors, so the tent is very versatile when it comes to ventilation, air circulation, and privacy. The inner tent double door feature of this tent might add a few grams, but it is a very nice feature that allows you to either have a completely open door, a bug-mesh screen door to allow good or greater ventilation whilst keeping out any bugs, or a full polyester door to keep in the warmth and/or provide additional privacy.
 
The inner tent sewn-in bathtub floor measures 210cm x 90cm with high 15cm sides. The floor is made from slightly more durable Oxford weave 210D PU-coated polyester with a hydrostatic head (HH) of 4000mm. Internally this one man tent is quite spacious due to the simple, but effective pole configuration. Two vestibules provide a total storage space of around 9 square feet – big enough for a decent size rucksack and boots, etc. The internal height of the tent at the apex is 100cm.

All seams are taped to provide a fully waterproof seal at the stitching. All seams are double-stitched with reinforced box stitching at any potential stress points.

This tent is a compact. lightweight one person tent for anyone wanting a high quality, high performance tent that is not only incredibly practical, light enough to carry for hours on end when backpacking, but also spacious enough to provide some creature comforts.

Whilst some of our other tents might be less weighty, they may also be more minimalist and less roomy. Our Glencoe 1 is a really good tent offering some very nice features and good functionality at a respectable weight. 

Note: All modern lightweight tents feature a lightweight flooring fabric, and though it can be made extremely waterproof, it is less resilient, hence potentially more susceptible to damage by sharp implements - thorns, stones, etc. than the thicker, heavier materials employed by tents of old. I always use my polythene emergency survival bag as an additional groundsheet, and for this purpose it works extremely well. However if I did not have this, for peace of mind, I would surely employ an additional lightweight groundsheet for the extra protection it would offer to my lightweight tent floor.
