Model overview
Authentic series that reproduces vintage Martin using the best technology possessed by modern Martin companies.
This model is a reproduction of the 1937 D-28, and it looks and sounds like it has been played for 80 years.
Hand-scalloped forward shift X-bracing, Adirondack spruce top and bracing with VTS Vintage Tone System, Guatemalan rosewood sides and back, fabricated with glue rather than bond, and many other angles. Techniques used to reproduce vintage Martins are used.
Additionally, aged processing was added as a new initiative in 2023. Previously, this model had the appearance and playability of a new Martin, but the aged finish gives it a 1930s feel both visually and in terms of playability.
Weather check cracks on the paint film, dull-colored saddle and nut materials, scratches and dents from picks, and fingerboard edges with rounded corners that have changed the feel of the grip, to name a few. I can feel it.
All of these elements are output as sound, and I think it would be an exaggeration to say that this instrument is the best D-28 of the modern era.
The forward-shifted + hand-scalloped bracing gives a plump, sticky, and absolute sense of volume, and the treble gives off a dry impression that seems to be due to the VTS processing.
Although it is crisp, the core of the sound is thick, and the harder you play, the more it responds without being crushed. I think it's the sound of the D-28 that everyone dreams of.
I think it has a tone that can be used in a wide range of musical genres, but I especially recommend it as a great choice for glassers.
A special case from the Authentic series is included.
