Unbranded Boxwood(?) Oboe with Bulb Top but Modern Fingering HISTORIC COLLECTION

main image

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Here's a very unusual oboe. From a glance looks like a baroque oboe, and has a bent upper joint though it bears no maker's mark. The fingering system, however, is fairly modern and suggests early-mid 20th century. Regrettably, my collection notes have no further information on this instrument. Will need a repad to be playable.

Provenance: The Historic Collection. This is from the collection of a well-known researcher and historian of woodwinds who spent a lifetime collecting rare and unique instruments. We are privileged to offer items from this collection for sale.

As this instrument is historically interesting we have chosen to not do restoration work on it and leave that to the eventual owner.
