    In about 1902 Cuthbert Bailey, a ceramic chemist, and Bernard Moore, a young and talented potter joined the Royal Doulton team. This team of men were financially supported by the Royal Doulton firm to produce these ''Flame Glazes '' and special kilns were built and numerous experimental compositions conducted. Moore, a young ( and now infamous ) Staffordshire potter, had already achieved success with unusual, experimental to successfully produce the '' flambe Glazes '' 
    Henry Doulton encouraged, and financially supported numerous experiments by these 4 men, ( John Slater, Charles J. Noke, Cuthbert Bailey and Bernard Moore ) and the flambe glaze. Success in creating the glaze was achieved and the wares first shown at the 1904 St Louis Exposition. 

    Royal Doulton  '' Flambe " the name describes the streaky,flame like effect of the deep blood red glaze which was produced by mixing copper oxide and other minerals and allowing certain amounts of oxygen to be admitted to the kiln during firing.

    This Interesting Piece of Royal Doulton '' Flambe '' high glaze red vase, marked shape number 6012 and  '' Doulton ''  at the base, typical marks ; '' ROYAL DOULTON FLAMBE '' with ink-stamp in black  ( mark used on small pieces,1904-1930 ) it is unusual shape and rare piece.
