Elegant Decorative COFFEE CAN Set of 5 CUPS & SAUCERS, THOUSAND FLOWERS Pattern on White from Fenton, Staffordshire, England, Smooth Rims & GOLD Decorated Handles, circa 1965-1978

DESCRIPTION:  This set was skillfully designed with the vivid floral bouquet pattern using a palette of pink, green, blue and yellow with gold on the white bone china.  The overall quality of the design is quite professional.  The most unique features are the vivid colors and the various sizes that make the flowers seem to pop out.  This is most unusual.  The gold trim on the rims, foot and the handle is very shiny and accents the handle.

While this set is classified as used, its condition is superb.  There are no issues such as chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, or hairlines.  Overall, the gold trim is glossy.

DIMENSIONS:
The cups have a diameter of 2 1/8" and have a height of 2 1/4" with a capacity of 3 ounces.  The deep saucer's diameter is 4 3/4" with a height of 3/4".

HISTORY/MARKS:  Thomas Allen Green and Spencer Green were brothers who bought out other family members in 1876 of a business that could be traced back to 1801.  The pottery was located at Minerva Works in Fenton, Staffordshire, England.  The company traded as T.A. & S. Green until incorporated as Crown Staffordshire Porcelain Co. Ltd in 1903.  The company was an important exporter to North America and continued limited production during WWII.  In 1946, the company purchased Heron Cross Pottery to expand production.  In 1948, the name was changed to Crown Staffordshire China Co. Ltd.  The firm continued to be owned & operated by the Green family until 1964 when Semart Importing Co. (the US distributor of Crown Staffordshire) acquired the firm.  The Crown Staffordshire name was used until it became part of the Wedgwood Group in 1974.  The mark is identified by Geoffrey A. Godden’s (Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks) as #1152 which was used in the 1930-1985 time period.  The registration mark #622735 was entered on the books on 1913.  The pattern was produced 1965-1978.
