Vintage Sterling Silver 'Slide' or compression buckle by Hickok in nice condition (some horizontal scratches are evident, see pics)  and perfect functionally.  The buckle is stamped 'sterling' and the belt is new, full grain and features a quaint Western design. Unlike typical buckles, where a prong is inserted into a hole in the belt, slide or compression buckles clamp down on the belt. The last photo shows the compression piece. When the loop is swiveled inward, or toward the wearers belly, the belt is loosened. When straightened out the compression piece clamps firmly down wherever on the belt the wearer desires.  Resetting is both fast and easy to get used to. This is one of Hickok's 'pendant' buckles, named for the shape, and they are durable and clamp hard as heck. These were very popular from the 20's into the 50's, and Hickok made more than anyone. The belt is full grain and half way between cordovan and brown. At 47 inches long, it's about right for a size 40 waist, but I can shorten it for a buyer-just let me know the total length you want the belt to be: not your waist size, but total length. This is a quite nice belt and buckle and will last! Please see my other offerings.
