The long-awaited Billybo Jupiter Thunderbird is back for a limited time as part of a special project commemorating Gretsch's 140th anniversary!
The original Jupiter Thunderbird designed by Bo Diddley in the 1950s (though it was probably not an official Gretsch guitar) was based on his favorite Gretsch #6131JetFirebird. Billy Gibbons, who inherited the guitar, re-produced it with Gretsch and completed the G6199 Billy-BoJupiter Thunderbird.
A wonderfully cool body shape.
Like other Gretsch solid models, it has a laminated maple top, mahogany back body, and mahogany neck. The interior of the body has a chamber structure to create the unique Gretsch sound. P.U combines TVJonesPower TronPlus and Power Tron to output hot rock sound!!

Bo gave me a guitar a while back. When recording ZZ Top, my engineer and I went through the guitar storage room and found this guitar.
I thought it would be dangerous to use such a rare guitar for recording, so I created this replica model with specs that I liked. Now it has grown into a groovy guitar that can be used on the main stage.
