Shobu-zukuri Tanto in Aiguchi Koshirae,

Mumei unsigned

as shown in the photos, the polish of the blade isn't in very good condition with many minor scratches due to improper storage, despite there's no significant issues observed. The blade is in typical 菖蒲造Shobu-zukuri, which the name comes from the plant 菖蒲Shobu/ Ayame, or calamus in English. Such 造り込みTsukuri-komi gained its name due to the shape and geometry of the blade ressembles the appearance of Shobu leaf, with an elegamt thin, sharp and streamline design.

The Koshirae is a typical 合口Aiguchi style Koshirae with no Tsuba installed. As one can tell, it's a very eye catching set with the combination of bright red lacquer work, the smooth black lacquer work as well as Shakudo black patina copper fittings (the Sageo ring), and the silver Kashira and Kojiri. It has a screw style 螺子目釘Neji-mekugi pin (seems like silver), and a lacquered wood Kogai. Overall a typical Bakumatsu style Tanto for daily carry and self defense.
