Alkire ten string steel guitar era mid 1940’s - mid 1950’s with serial # X62289. Built by Epiphone which was eventually purchased by its rival, Gibson in 1957. Eddie Alkire came up with a different ten string tuning which gave way to the “Alkire E-Harp” brand. History describes the Alkire brand involved Rickenbacker in the late 1930’s with one pre-production steel then ceased due to WW-2. Epiphone started building ten strings for Alkire in the 40’s. Other manufactures under a variety of names like Valco, National, Gibson, Supro, Oahu as examples were involved in the E-Harp brand.

This Epiphone version is in average to good playing condition and refitted with newer tuner buttons on original tuners otherwise I believe everything is original. Normal ten string tunings are C6th or E9th for country (rock) music. The case has taken a beating however still provides adequate protection for the steel and telescopic legs @ 70 years young.
The players wrist rest was a novel innovation back then. This steel plays well and has a great sound. Suggest you add a volume pedal then you’ve got a nice lightweight package minus pedals and knee levers & when you have to transport it to the next gig or practice you will not break your back!
