Ann Matthews Martin  is an acclaimed American children's author.  Her first published book was “Bummer Summer” (aka The Summer I Was Twelve)  in 1983.   The author is  best known for the series The Baby-Sitters Club.   After completing The Baby-sitters Club series the Main Street series were begun by Ann M. Martin. She has stated in one of her interviews that she always liked writing about small towns.    Spin off series include Baby-Sitters Little Sister;  and Baby-Sitters The Kids in Ms Colman's Class.
