(Many of my listings are new and unused. My husband played weekly noontime organ concerts at his church for more than 40 years. He accumulated a large eclectic library of organ music. My husband loved playing the organ and died after a long illness. It gave him great joy to continued to purchase organ music in the hopes that he would one day return to playing the organ - even though this dream was never realized.) 

 

SHIPPING AND DELIVERY - I ship FIRST CLASS or MEDIA MAIL Whichever is cheaper unless you indicate a preference for another method. Shipping covers shipping to the contiguous continental US ONLY. Priority Shipping is available for an additional charge.

I will combine shipping. It is easiest if you put all things you want to purchase in shopping cart and ask for an invoice before checking out.

Alan Hovhaness (1911-2000) was an American composer of Armenian and Scottish descent. He was one of the most prolific 20th-century composers, with his official catalog comprising 67 numbered symphonies (surviving manuscripts indicate over 70) and 434 opus numbers.The true tally is well over 500 surviving works since many opus numbers comprise two or more distinct works.
The Boston Globe music critic Richard Buell wrote: "Although he has been stereotyped as a self-consciously Armenian composer (rather as Ernest Bloch is seen as a Jewish composer), his output assimilates the music of many cultures. What may be most American about all of it is the way it turns its materials into a kind of exoticism. The atmosphere is hushed, reverential, mystical, nostalgic."
