Is it from the mid-1970s?
Ariad Dreadnought by Ryoji Matsuoka's D-40.
It has a rare 2-piece back, and uses Parisiandre with an exotic wood grain.
D-40 is usually a 3p back D-35 model, but this one is a D-28 model.
The pegs are also rare and I think they were only used in this era.
I remember seeing it used on Kyoto Chaki and Greco guitars from the same era.
In addition, the string pin holes on the bridge are angled to ensure tension is applied to the strings.
There are many tricks and you can see Mr. Matsuoka's sophisticated and detailed tricks.
This seems to contribute greatly to the quality of the sound.
The large-eyed shell dot position mark is distinctive.

First of all, there is a white blur in the paint on a part of the side and back.
There is a Martin-like shrinkage on the pickguard.
In addition, there are some scratches and scratches on the pick.
It is in good condition considering its age.
The condition of the instrument is not bad, and it has been adjusted to be comfortable to play.

The top is spruce core plywood and the middle core is also spruce.
This is what is called a semi-solid.
Fullback is Palisandre
The fingerboard and lower bridge are rosewood
The neck is mahogany
Specifications such as

The rare trust rod with a diameter of 6 mm on the head side can freely rotate left and right.
It leaves a lot of room in both directions.
The neck is almost straight even when tuned.
There is no abnormal warping at all.
There is some slight wear and tear on the fingerboard, but no dents.
The frets are 8 minutes high.
There are no signs of peeling off the bridge or abnormal bulges on the top plate.

At the 12th fret during light gauge tuning
2 Set the string height to 2mm and 2mm for easy play.
It sticks out about 2mm to 25mm on the saddle.
The neck width is 43mm and it has a relatively solid neck grip.
I don't think it will be difficult to play even if you have large hands.
Actual measurement at the center of the scale is 648 mm.

It has developed into a vintage, dry, old sound.
The rise of the sound is quick, and the deep line has a thick rumble.
As expected from Ryoji Matsuoka's Aria Dread.
As mentioned above, there is a lot of tension.
This seems to lead to a powerful sound.
Furthermore, after nearly 50 years, it has shown itself to be more capable than its price.
This is an excellent piece of equipment that allows you to fully enjoy Japan's old sounds at a reasonable price.
